(MENAFN) UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced that during 2012’s first 3 months, the number of GSM subscribers grew by around 639,000 to 12.367 million, reported Emirates 24/7.
The TRA said that the number represented almost 87 percent of the total new subscribers in the mobile, landline and internet networks.
It noted that at the end of the first quarter, the total number of mobile phone, fixed landline and broadband subscribers reached 15.1 million, adding that 730,000 new users joined the country’s telecom sector during the 3-months period.
It is worth noting that when compared to March 2011, the total number of mobile phone subscribers in the UAE increased by 1.3 million in 2012’s first quarter.
