(MENAFN) UAE Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued a resolution to merge the General Information Authority (GIA) into the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) and to restructure the e-government sector, Gulf News reported.
The resolution mandates TRA to oversee the e-government project, to propose vision, strategic plan and policies of the e-government.
TRA also mandated to put forward its relevant legislations, regulatory frameworks and standards to recommend standards and policies for government information technology to manage the e-government’s programs and initiatives to promote the use of information technology within the federal government and to provide an attractive environment for it.
Under the resolution, employees of the GIA will be transferred with the same grades and financial benefits to the TRA. The GIA’s annual budget will also be transferred to the TRA.
