UAE to buy 60 aircraft from Sikorsky
04 Nov 2010
(MENAFN) Sikorsky vice-president for Europe and the MENA region, Joseph Gigantelli, stated that the UAE Air Force and Sikorsky Aircraft have signed an agreement valued at $300 million, Gulf News reported.
The UAE has purchased 60 BlackHawk utility helicopters, 20 of which are 20 UH-60L BlackHawks. One of the aircrafts was on display and was weaponised and fitted with the Flir Systems Star Safire with a stabilised, multi-sensor system.
Gigantelli revealed a new aircraft model (40 UH-60M ) is to be released in the beginning of the upcoming year, and has already received purchase orders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordon, Egypt and Bahrain. Deliveries will be made through 2013.
