(MENAFN) An official at the Emirates General Petroleum Corp stated that delays in the major Shah gas project are forcing the UAE government to look at Qatar and Iran for gas imports, Reuters reported.
He pointed out that gas demand in the UAE will average 7.5 billion cubic feet for 2010 and rise 6 percent to 7 percent annually. It will hit 15 billion cubic feet by 2020 compared to the 6.5 billion cubic feet seen in 2009.
For 2009, the UAE was 0.5 billion cubic feet short on supply compared to demand and we are still seeing strong demand growth.
