(MENAFN) The General Manager of Yahsat’s subsidiary Yah Service, Rashid Al Gafri, said that two satellites (Y1A and Y1B) are going to be placed into orbit by the satellite operator Yahsat in 2011, reported Gulf News.
Al Gafri said that by launching the satellites, Yahsat, which is a Mubadala subsidiary, would be the first satellite operator in the Middle East to launch a hybrid satellite system.
Al Gafri added that the satellites are going to offer the government including the UAE Armed Forces, the Abu Dhabi Police and the commercial sector with secure satellite communications.
The general manager said that Yahsat would launch the first satellite (Y1A) in March 2011 and the second (Y1B) at the end of 2011.
