(MENAFN) UAE’s economy minister, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, said that the country has plans for an investment of USD1.6 billion in electricity and water networks in northern emirates as they are less developed than others in the country, reported Gulf Daily News.
Al Mansouri said that the government would concentrate more on upgrading the infrastructure of emirates towards the north of the country, especially that there is a huge gap between their level of development compared to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The minister stated that the projects would focus on Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.
Al Mansouri added that the new investments would boost life in targeted emirates, not only at the level of infrastructure quality, but also as new projects would create more job opportunities for locals.
