(MENAFN) Monaco’s Tourism and Convention Authority’s President, Michel Bouquier, said that the number of UAE tourists arriving to Monaco surged 45 percent in one year, reported Gulf News.
Bouquier added that Middle Eastern tourists spent 40,000 nights at hotels in the state, of which the UAE tourists’ spent 6,000 nights, on the other hand, Saudi tourists represented around 40 percent of tourists from the GCC who visited the country in 2011.
He also said that the 1,000 Saudi tourists who visited Monaco last summer spent around 6,000 nights at the hotels, whereas the other 6 million tourists who visited the country from other nationalities spent only one night.
It is worth noting that the number of hotel rooms in Monaco exceeds 2,600, of which 90 percent are in the five-star and four-star categories.
