UAE’s Etisalat launches local search engine in 2015

(MENAFN) UAE’s Etisalat launched a UAE-specific search engine, nominated Connect.ae, which is the first in the country and it is labelled as a fully-digital and multiplatform search service, Emirates 247 reported.
The launching signals the agreement signed between the subsidiary Etisalat Information Services (EIS) and the Nordic search company Eniro Global, operating in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Poland.
Thus far, the service solely covers the UAE, but there is an intention to launch the service in the other markets where Etisalat has some operational units.
Connect.ae includes a platform of systematized tasks and so it aggregates, organizes filters and distributes local data for all digital services, regardless of the user’s type of screen.
“We searched for the best partner to develop a unique local search engine for all sorts of business and services as a complement to our telecom business,” the General Manager of EIS said in a statement.
