UAE’s Etisalat to slash broadband rates by 50% by year-end

21 May 2012

(MENAFN) Etisalat’s deputy chairman for home communications services, Majid Al Abbar, stated that by the end of 2012, the UAE operator will slash broadband internet rates by 50 percent, reported Emirates 24/7.

Al Abbar said that the move will affect over 40 percent of the firm’s total internet subscribers, whereas monthly rates will range between USD40.55 and USD51.44.

On the other hand, he said that during 2012’s second half, the company will reduce rates on landline phone calls to India and the Philippines by between 10 and 30 percent as the number of international calls to these two countries is very high.

It is worth noting that by the end of May, etisalat will unveil the smart land telephone, which will enable users to access internet and make video calls as the phones can be fixed with cameras.
