(MENAFN) UAE’s Labour Minister, Saqr Ghobash, said that last year, the number of expatriates working in the country reached 3.8 million, reported Emirates 24/7.
Ghobash added that the number of foreign workers increased notably from 1.8 million ten years ago, to 4 million in 2007, as a result of the country’s economic expansion.
He also said that expatriates represented almost 8.2 million of the country’s population by the end of 2010; however, UAE nationals formed only 11.47 percent of the population.
It is worth noting that UAE authorities planned to create jobs for its nationals, where around 200,000 Emiratis will be expected to enter the market in the next years.
