(MENAFN) flydubai’s CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith, stated that the low-cost carrier increased its fleet size to 26 planes in less than 4 years, reported Kjaleej Times.
Al Ghaith said that by the end of the current year, the airline would add another 2 planes.
The carrier’s latest delivery is the first of 3 Boeing 737-800NG aircraft funded via a USD117.5 million loan deal reached with the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank).
Over the past 3 years, the Dubai-based company has financed its fleet mainly through sale and leaseback deals.
It is worth noting that flydubai has expanded its network in 2012, through adding services to Bucharest, Sana’a, Basra, Najaf, Bishkek, Taif and Skopje, the capital of Macedonia whereas Tabuk is set to start next month.
