(MENAFN) UAE’s Jafza Deputy CEO, Ibrahim Aljanahi, said that at the end of last year, the number of industrial companies in the free zone rose 4.5 percent from 2010 to 593 firms, reported Emirates 24/7.
Aljanahi added that in 2011, 34 new industrial firms joined Jafza, of which 61 percent were in machinery and equipment sector, 18 percent in consumer goods, 9 percent each in chemical/ petroleum and steel and metal and 3 percent in automotive.
He also said that in 2010, total trade generated by firms with a manufacturing license stood at USD19 billion, representing a little more than 30 percent of Jafza’s total external trade of USD63.49 billion.
It is worth noting that MAN, David Brown, Allison Transmission, Legnano Teknoelectric, Stemcor Special Steels Limited are amongst the new companies that joined Jafza in 2011.
