(MENAFN) Business Monitor International Statistics said that by the year 2015, mobile phone sales in the UAE would be forecasted to exceed USD408 million whereas subscriber penetration would be projected to surpass 250 percent, reported Emirates 24/7.
The agency added that last year, mobile handset sales reached around 10 percent of the country’s consumer electronics spending, moreover, through the next four years, market handset sales would be expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of five percent reaching USD414 million, that would happen when mobile subscriber penetration would reach 257 percent.
It also said that as a result of increasing popularity of new electronic devices such as LED and 3G TV sets, 3G mobile handsets, smartphones, feature-rich notebooks, MP3/MP4 players and Blu-ray players, by 2015, the UAE’s consumer electronics devices market would be projected to grow USD4.3 billion.
It is worth noting that this year, domestic market computer hardware sales, including notebooks and accessories, will reach USD1.8 billion compared with USD1.7 billion a year ago.
