UAE’s mobile subscribers at record high of 12.36m

(MENAFN) The UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) stated that at the end of the first quarter, the number of mobile phone subscribers hit 12.36 million, reported Emirates 24/7.
The TRA said that by the end of 2012’s first 3 months, GSM penetration ratio was the highest in the world, at 153.8 percent.
It added that fixed line subscribers grew by nearly 18,000 in March from February, reaching 1.88 million, whereas internet users went up by around 10,000 to almost 904,000.
It is worth noting that in February alone, the UAE added around 293,000 subscribers to mobile phone services.
