(MENAFN) Yahoo Middle East’s vice president and managing director, Ahmed Nassef, said that the company would launch an Arabic mobile website since as it would expand its smartphone market in the Middle East, reported The National.
Nassef added that after the company would launch its mobile site, the US internet company would sell advertising specifically designed for delivery through mobile phones, adding that next month it would start its yahoo front page for mobile in both Arabic and English languages
He also said that when internet users in the Arab world navigated to the Yahoo homepage via mobile phones, they were redirected to the UK or US mobile websites, in a short time, these users would be able to navigate through a regional site with Arabic support.
It is worth noting that two years ago, Yahoo bought the Middle East web portal Maktoob for USD164 million. In the Arab region, the site is branded Yahoo Maktoob.
