(MENAFN) Zain, one of the leading telecom companies in the Middle East inked a USD650 million five-year network outsourcing agreement with Ericsson Iraq, Arab News reported.
The deal will enable Zain to increase its focus on its core customer facing business activities, and to offer a shorter time-to-market for offering new services and technologies.
Ericsson will optimize, modernize and manage IT operations and Zain’s mobile network in Iraq that currently includes more than 3,700 sites across the country.
Zain’s Iraqi base of subscribers exceeded 12.4 million in September. The company spent over USD4.5 billion in Iraq since the launch of commercial services in 2003 exceeded.
It is worth mentioning that the deal is Ericsson’s first major managed services agreement in Iraq, reflecting its increased interest on the growing Iraqi market.
