(MENAFN) Etihad Airways said that net profit in 2011 reached USD14 million, making the company the third most profitable Gulf Arab carrier after Emirates Airline and Air Arabia, reported Gulf News.
It added that in the period, revenues surged 36 percent over 2010’s USD2.98 billion, to reach USD4.1 billion.
Moreover, the number of passengers jumped 17 percent to 8.3 million from the 7.1 million passengers recorded in the previous year.
The carrier said that it had 64 aircrafts served by 9,038 employees at the end of 2011.
It is worth noting that the 8-year-old UAE flag carrier added 5 new routes last year, including Bangalore, the Maldives, the Seychelles, Chengdu and Dusseldorf.
