(MENAFN) The three telecom operators in Jordan asked the government to cancel the decision to license a fourth operator in the country, Xinhuanet reported.
The telecom market in the Kingdom is saturated and the decision to add another operator is a mistake, senior officials at the existing operators said.
They said that a new operator would cause a dent to their company’s profits and in the long run, it would affect the government’s revenue from the sector.
The Jordanian government released an invitation tender and received two bids for it, saying that both are under study and a decision will be made before the end of 2013.
The country’s three existing mobile operators are Zain Jordan, Umniah and Jordan Telecom Group.
