(MNEAFN)Following the closure of two key oil ports in Libya, the government has come to agreement with security guards to reopen the ports and presume export operations, Reuters reported.
The two ports that were shut down by security guards, as a sign of protest demanding better work conditions, are located in the eastern part of the country. Es Sider, Libya’s main crude oil export terminal and Ras Lanuf which includes the North African country’s biggest refinery and a separate port.
A member of the energy committee within Libya’s national assembly Saad Benshrada said: “There was a meeting in Brega between representatives of the groups that closed down the ports, the oil ministry and others,” he also added: “The meeting was long but after we reached an agreement, the guards gave instructions to allow workers to resume export operations.”
The shutdowns come in a series of continual closures of many oilfields across the country the thing affected the country’s oil production severely.
