BBK launches the second edition of its Digital Literacy Program

05 May 2022

Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) signed an agreement with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), to launch the second edition of the “BBK Digital Literacy” program.

This program is dedicated to building the digital capabilities of Bahrainis in today’s digital world and empowering them with the knowledge needed to use different apps and platforms such as advanced e-government services, e-banking, online schooling, and e-payments. The Agreement was signed by BBK Group Chief Executive, Dr. Abdulrahman Ali Saif, and the BIBF Director Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh.

While the first edition of the initiative focused on enhancing the digital knowledge of 102 Bahraini women; the second version intends to train an equal number of men and women from various segments of Bahraini society who experience difficulties in using electronic platforms and applications. Four different modules will constitute the program, namely: “Stay Connected”, “Stay Efficient”, “Stay Productive” and “Stay Secure”; with the choice given to the participants to benefit from some of the modules or all of them; bearing in mind that the Bank will be offering some incentives for those who complete the four modules.

Dr. Abdulrahman Ali Saif said in a statement on this occasion: “The second edition of the Digital Literacy program reflects BBK’s desire to promote the concept of “financial inclusion” in Bahrain by allowing as many people as possible to benefit from a variety of financial and banking services, in line with the Bank’s leadership in digital transformation as a crucial component of the Kingdom’s efforts to build a knowledgeable society and economy.”

“This program also highlights our efforts to foster more widespread usage of electronic payment channels and e-services in Bahrain. We are proud to be contributing to the country’s digital transformation process and to achieve Bahrain’s Vision 2030 for the Kingdom’s prosperity. It also represents BBK’s desire to go to the next level in terms of social responsibility initiatives aiming at the Bahraini society’s prosperity.” Dr. Saif concluded.

On his part, the BIBF Director Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh said, “Following the outstanding success of the first edition of the program, the second edition aims to improve Bahraini citizens’ digital skills and boost the Kingdom’s digital literacy rates; as the pandemic has accelerated the need of using modern technologies as well as the necessity for ongoing training in the use of various electronic platforms and apps.”

Dr. Al Shaikh also noted that this program is part of the Institute’s ongoing commitment to developing and upgrading the capabilities of the talent pool on a national level to achieve the Kingdom’s prosperity via a diverse, fast-growing, and technologically advanced economy. He also extended his gratitude to BBK for adopting this national program, which demonstrates the Bank’s keenness to support the education and development of talents and skills among different segments of society.

The program’s second edition is set to launch on May 22, and anyone interested in registering may call 17815555 or send a text message to the same number via Whatsapp, or email [email protected]
