BBK, a leader in retail and corporate banking in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced the launch of “AuditX – Expanding Horizons”, a distinctive cross-functional development initiative introduced across the Group as part of Internal Audit Awareness Month.

The initiative is tailored to provide employees with practical exposure beyond their day-to-day roles, while strengthening their understanding of audit, risk, controls, governance practices, and wider business operations.

The initiative reflects BBK’s continued investment in its people by creating learning opportunities that enable employees to expand their professional perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of the organization across different departments and functions. It also supports a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the Group, giving participants the opportunity to explore broader aspects of banking operations, audit practices, governance, and controls in a way that strengthens their professional readiness and opens new avenues for growth and development.

Through “AuditX – Expanding Horizons”, participating employees will be assigned to selected projects within Internal Audit, with defined timelines and deliverables, while continuing to carry out their existing roles and responsibilities in coordination with their line management. Participants will receive orientation, guidance, and ongoing support from the Internal Audit team throughout the program, ensuring a structured professional experience that contributes to the development of their knowledge and practical skills.

The initiative will include selected employees from BBK, as well as the Group’s subsidiaries, including Credimax and Invita. It aims to strengthen cross-functional collaboration, enhance employees’ understanding of governance, controls, and risk management practices, and provide practical exposure to strategic and operational audit projects.

BBK affirmed that participation in the initiative will be governed by standards of confidentiality, independence, and professional conduct, in line with the nature and requirements of internal audit. The initiative will also help employees gain a wider view of the Group’s operations and better understand the relationship between internal controls, risk management, effective governance, and sustainable organizational performance.

Mr. Khaled Alnaser, BBK Group Chief Internal Audit, commented: “AuditX – Expanding Horizons introduces employees to Internal Audit as a valuable learning platform that goes beyond review and assurance. By working alongside our team on selected assignments, participants will gain first-hand insight into how audit supports sound decision-making, strengthens accountability, and helps the organization identify opportunities for improvement. The initiative also allows employees to better understand how controls, risk awareness, and governance practices contribute to resilient and sustainable business performance.”

Mrs. Sarah Jamal, Group Chief Human Resources Officer at BBK, stated: “At BBK, we believe employee development goes beyond traditional learning programs. We continuously introduce initiatives that provide our employees with opportunities to learn through exposure, collaboration, and practical experience across different functions and business areas. AuditX – Expanding Horizons reflects this commitment by encouraging employees to step into new professional settings, build confidence, and develop a more connected and collaborative workplace culture.”
