(MENAFN) Mohamed Hassan al-Saadi, assistant undersecretary at the Qatari Ministry of Business and Trade, said that Qatar is planning a corporate social responsibility (CSR) index for the listed companies in an attempt to evaluate their social commitment and application, Gulf Times reported.
The questionnaire prepared and distributed by the ministry, seeks particular criteria on CSR from local and foreign companies operating in Qatar.
This is going to be a move that would significantly assist in reviewing the performance of these companies.
The Ministry is calling upon the private sector to commit to the CSR as the country attempts to realize the goals of the National Vision 2030.
The Qatari Businessmen Association said the best definition for the CSR is when then social responsibility is transferred from the form of individual charity to the form of the social development investment as the wealth is linked to the success of companies and economic development.
