BBK, Bahrain’s pioneer in Retail and Commercial banking, has announced the appointment of Mr. Ewan Sterling as the General Manager of its International Banking and Overseas Branches, to support the Bank’s strategic initiatives in its overseas branches and its banking business outside the Kingdom, which focus on core banking activities, consistent performance and a proactive risk management approach.
This appointment coincides with the growth of the international banking services at BBK, as the Bank has branches in India and Kuwait and representative offices in Dubai and Turkey, as well as extensive arrangements for correspondence services with major Banks around the world, which made it one of the most competitive banks in this field.
BBK Group Chief Executive, Dr. AbdulRahman Saif stated that this appointment demonstrates the Bank’s keenness to attract international competencies with global expertise that will benefit the financial industry in Bahrain and help build the capabilities of national cadres. He stressed on the commitment of BBK to enhance the efficiency of teamwork and ensure the growth of the business and enrich its financial practices, while, advancing the digital transformation integration, keeping pace with the continuous development witnessed by the banking sector in this field.

Mr. Ewan Stirling, holds a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from the University of Wales, UK, is a veteran banker who brings 34 years of vast experience gained from a career in Corporate, Retail, Wholesale Banking and Treasury business. During his career, Mr. Stirling held a number of leadership positions in numerous reputable banks. He played a crucial role in implementing strategies related to change, transformation and in developing executive management teams. Most recently, he was Chief Transformation Officer at Riyad Bank, and previously Chief Executive Officer of HSBC International and Head of Transformation, HSBC plc in Europe.
