In line with their strategic initiatives for a brighter community, Bahrain’s pioneer in retail and commercial banking, BBK handed over a cheque of BD 30,000 as a gesture of their support towards the Agricultural Centre for Occupational Training. The cheque was handed over by Mr. Abdulkarim Bucheery, CE of BBK to Ms. Fadheela Al Mahroos, the President of the Centre, in the presence of Mr. Mahmood Al Thaen, Treasurer- Bahrain Association for Mental Retardation, and from BBK Mr. Reyadh Sater- General Manager- Shared Services Group, Mr. Abdul Hussain Bustani- Assistant General Manger- Human Resources and Administration and Ms. Abeer Swar- Corporate Communication Officer.
The Bank’s valuable contributions have been vital to the continuous operation of the Agricultural Centre and boosted the Centre’s financial resources enabling it to carry out its plans for training a group of special needs youth under the supervision of a team of qualified trainers. The Bank’s support has made it possible for the Centre to buy the much needed agricultural equipment, machinery, seeds, organic and chemical fertilizer and maintenance of greenhouses and irrigation networks.
The Agricultural Centre for Occupational Training, which is sponsored by BBK since 2008, is one of the major projects of the Bahrain Association for Mental Retardation (BAMR). The latter in co-ordination with the National Organisation for Handicapped Services manages and operates the Agricultural Centre, which is situated in Hawrat Aali, a one-hectare plot of land owned by the Directorate of Agriculture, Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.
The Agricultural Centre for Occupational Training vision is to provide agricultural care for youngsters with mental disabilities in a safe and secure environment. The facility aims at providing training and employment opportunities for young people who are mentally handicapped that will help them in their careers, enable them to earn a living for themselves and thus become productive members of the community, ensuring their integration in the society.
As one of the major financial institutions in Bahrain, providing regular contributions to various humanitarian causes and societies throughout the years, BBK has supported entities including major clubs, charity funds and social initiatives. These initiatives are aimed at achieving the sole goal and vision of a brighter future and community in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
