BBK, Bahrain’s pioneer in retail and commercial banking, provided support to the restoration of the historical identity of the Al-Fadhel Mosque Minaret, reaffirming its responsibility towards the Kingdom of Bahrain and the preservation of its heritage.
Dr. AbdulRahman Saif, BBK Group’s Chief Executive expressed the Bank’s pride in contributing to the restoration of this prominent historical monument.
In a statement, Dr. Saif said: “The restoration and renovation took four years of continuous work, and we are overjoyed to see the new minaret of the Al-Fadhel Mosque, which is within walking distance of our headquarters in Manama’s center, regain its brilliance. BBK is proud to add this beautiful heritage project to the list of projects that it has supported in various locations around the Kingdom, and happy to see the unveiling conceding with BBK’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Dr. Saif also praised the efforts of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, led by Her Excellency Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, in carrying out the complex restoration process of the Al Fadhel Mosque minaret with the support of local and international expertise, and restoring its original and elegant identity in this wonderful form.
For his part, Mr. Mohammed Abdulla Isa, Group Chief Financial Officer commented at the inauguration of Al-Fadhel Mosque Minaret, that the glow has returned on one of the city’s most prominent monuments. He added that he is highly impressed by the final outcome after four years of hard work including advanced restoration techniques used with the utilization of almost two million mosaic pieces and tinted glass. “It is as if the Al-Fadhel minaret, with its history and elegance of design, had reclaimed its historical role as part of Manama’s identity” Mr. Mohammed added.
“Whenever we pass by this minaret or look at it from our offices at the headquarters of BBK in Manama, we will proudly remember all the efforts that joined forces to complete this project, resulting in a beautiful and distinctive monument that brings forth a sense of pride of our rich culture and heritage” Mr. Mohammed concluded.
