(MENAFN) ABB’s head of Power Systems division, Peter Leupp, said that the company was granted a contract by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) for the development of two underground substations for USD30 million, reported Arab News.
Leupp said that the deal aims to tighten the gap created by the increasing demand for power in Doha.
The substations would form part of the first phase of Musheireb, the key project of Dohaland, which is a subsidiary of the Qatar Foundation for education, science and community development.
Leupp said that ABB would be responsible for designing, supplying, installing and commissioning two 66 kV gas-insulated switchgear substations as well as transformers, 11 kV metal-clad air-insulated switchgear enclosed in a metal housing and cables.
