ABB signs $27m power deal with Oman

(MENAFN) Saeed Fahim, Country Manager of ABB in Oman, a power and automation technology group, said that it has won an order valued at $27 million from Oman Electricity Transmission Company to supply power transformers for installation at various substations in the Sultanate, Trade Arabia reported.

Under the agreement, ABB will supply transformers throughout 2011, rated at 125 megavolts ampere (MVA), to be delivered and installed at various substations in the Oman power grid, said Fahim.

ABB is a leading global transformer manufacturer, whereas transformers are integral components of any electrical grid and are a critical element in the efficient and safe conversion of energy across diverse voltage systems, explained the country manager.

Fahim also added that the mentioned energy efficient transformers will help facilitate the flow of additional supplies of quality power to meet growing demand in the Sultanate, and will also strengthen the reliability of the existing grid.
