(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Airports Company’s (ADAC) COO, Ahmed Al Haddabi, said that in 2011’s first half, passengers’ traffic at Abu Dhabi Airport grew 11.7 percent from last year’s same period reaching 5,742,283 travelers, reported Emirates 24/7.
Al Haddabi added that in the period, aircraft movements at the airport reached 56,888 movements, with an increase of 3.5 percent from the same period in 2010, moreover, due to the summer holidays, in June, the number of passengers who passed the airport rose 13.6 percent from 2010 reaching 983,096 passengers.
He also said that the most active routes in the first half were London, Bangkok, Manila, Doha and Jeddah, that combined represented 20 percent of the traffic at the airport, whereas the Far East contributed with 40 percent of passenger movements, the Middle East with 26 percent and Europe with 20 percent.
It is worth noting that cargo volume in the first half surged 10.4 percent from 2010’s same half to reach 231,733 tones.
