(MENAFN) UAE’s OPEC governor, Ali Obaid al-Yabhouni, said that Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) started running tests on vessels that came back from Japan to detect any traces of radiation, reported Reuters.
A-Yabhouni said that these tests are not a reason for people to worry and that there were only done out of precautions.
He added that ships were being sent to Japan as per schedule with the first priority being paid to people’s safety.
It is worth noting that recently, the hike in radiation levels forced a suspension of work at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex, which subsequently increased expectations for this incident to be world’s most critical atomic crisis in 25 years.
