Afghanistan awards contract to Etisalat unit

(MENAFN) Etisalat Afghanistan’s Chief Executive Officer, Saeed Hamad Al Hamli, announced that the telecom firm shall be receiving $3.4 million subsidy after winning a bid to provide telecommunication services in rural and far flung areas of Afghanistan, Khaleej Times reported.

Etisalat Afghanistan, which is a fully owned subsidiary of Etisalat, has signed the agreement which aims to provide communications access to the un-served population residing in far flung and highly remote areas ,with Afghanistan Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ATRA),

The telecom company is set to carry out the Rural Telecom Development project in 17 rural Districts in 9 provinces by building and operating 23 BTS sites, said Al Hamli.
