Al Dahra to invest USD20m in Namibian date farm

15 May 2011

(MENAFN) An official at Al Dahra Agricultural Company, Abdulkadir Yousef, said that the company plans on investing USD20 million in a date farm in Namibia, reported The National.

Yousef said that the farm would have a yearly production capacity of 2,500 tons and that exporting operation to the Middle East would begin in 2014.

The new farm aims at providing date products all year round, as climate in the African country differs than that of the Gulf region.

The project would be a joint venture equally owned by Al Dahra and the Namibia Development Corporation, a government agency that promotes economic growth.
