(MENAFN) Emirates, Dubai-based airline, said that its request for more landing rights in Vienna was rejected by Austria’s air traffic control centre due to technical disagreement, reported Arabian Business.
The Emirates had requested an increase of flights to Vienna by almost a hundred percent amidst the airline’s increasing competition with Austrian Airlines for a larger share in the European air-travel market.
Dubai’s carrier said that it would negotiate the request more with Austrian regulators and that it was optimistic when it came to increasing weekly flights to Vienna to 13.
It is worth noting that several European carriers including Air France KLM, British Airways and Germany’s Lufthansa had earlier claimed that Gulf airline use unfair subsidies to finance aircraft deals and to take market share from existing airlines.
