(MENAFN) Bahraini Industry and Commerce Minister, Dr. Hassan Fakhro, said that the government dedicated sites for 22 Bahraini manufacturing companies to be used for the construction of new industrial units as these companies plan expansion, reported gulf Daily News.
The minister said that the allocated sites are located in Mina Salman, Sitra Roundabout, North Sitra, Mameer, South Alba and Hidd and they cover an area of 104,427 square meters.
Fakhro also said that the government supports such expansions as, in total, 1,300 new jobs would be created.
It is worth noting that the government had announced in June 2010 the availability of a limited number of industrial sites and accordingly, a total of 112 companies applied. The approved companies were selected based on several criteria such as export and import substitution potential, the level of added value, growth potential, environmental impact and utility demand.
