(MENAFN) Circuit chairman of Bahrain Grand Prix, Zayed Alzayani, announced the country’s acceptance of not holding the Formula 1 Grand Prix in the Kingdom this year, reported Reuters.
The announcement comes after Bahrain set the postponed Grand Prix to be held in October, a decision that faced major protests from F1 teams who said they refused to go to Bahrain later this year.
It is worth noting that after giving Bahrain months to decide whether they were in a position to hold the race, the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced that it would be rescheduled for October 30.
This cancelation would definitely take its toll on the Kingdom’s economy as the hotel and tourism, retail among other sectors would be hit.
