(MENAFN) Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs under-secretary, Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaoud, said that Bahrain International Airport will handle more than 15 million passengers by 2013, compared to the current 10 million passengers, Trade Arabia reported.
According to Al Gaoud, the mentioned increase in the number of passengers comes as a result of the massive expansion of the airport, and the first phase of the facality is scheduled to be completed in two years.
According to Al Gaoud, work on the project’s preliminary designs has been completed, and engineering designs are now being drawn up. He added that phase two aims to cope with future passenger growth.
