(MENAFN) The King of Bahrain ordered giving each Bahraini family USD2,650 in an attempt to ease plans for protests that would take place later this month, reported Arabian Business.
According to analysts, Bahrain is not considered a subject of political danger such as that of Tunisia and Egypt; however, the country is the most vulnerable country in the gulf region to unrest.
The announcement of the new subsides came in time of the tenth anniversary of the National Action Charter. The announcement added that these subsidies are in recognition of the people of Bahrain.
It is worth noting that the government took some measures to ease protests such as higher social spending and offering to release some minors arrested during a security crackdown against some Shi’ite groups last August.
