(MENAFN) Costa Cruises, the Italy-based cruise line, stated that its ships would not pass Bahrain this season even though the Gulf country was on regular cruise routes for a long while, reported The National.
Costa Cruises said that due to the political turmoil in Bahrain, the company decided not to pass by Bahrain. Other smaller cruise lines also reported that they would bypass Bahrain in their routes for this season.
Such actions would add to Bahrain’s economic losses as a 2,000-passenger ship generates around USD272,250 of revenue for each port of call. During the last season, 150,000 tourists stopped in Bahrain on cruise ships.
