(MENAFN) DP World’s senior vice president and managing director, Mohammad Al Muallem, said that DP would upgrade Al Hamriya Port in order to bring it to the 21st century and to provide customers with value added services, reported Gulf News.
Al Muallem added that the upgrade operations, which would take around 24 months, would include extending the wharves in order to take larger vessels, expanding the area used to keep traditional wooden dhows, extending the fishermen’s wharf and establishing a fishermen’s centre including a hostel for workers.
He also said that the upgrades would strengthen Al Hamriya Port’s traditional capability and leverage its strategic location in a central part of Dubai.
It is worth noting that Al Hamriya Port is an integral part of Dubai’s maritime tradition and when improving it, businesses of investors and traders will be facilitated.
