DTCM plans to expand Dubai Cruise terminal

(MENAFN) The Executive Director at the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai, Hamad M. Bin Mejren, said that an expansion of the Dubai Cruise Terminal at Port Rashid is planned to take place in order to put up with the expected growth of the cruise industry, reported Gulf News.

Bin Mejren said that the Dubai Cruise Terminal was established in 2001 and is capable of accommodating 3 cruise ships and about 7,000 passengers. However, after the planned expansion the terminal is expected to handle 5 ships and about 8,000 passengers.

The Executive Director added that the number of passengers accommodated by the terminal is expected to increase to 625,000 by 2015, compared with 390,000 passengers in 2010.
