(MENAFN) Dubai Airports’ chief executive, Paul Griffiths, said that last month, passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport rose by 7.3 percent from 2010’s same period of 4 million passengers to 4.3 million, reported Arab News.
Griffiths added that the increase was due to new added routes, additional frequencies and more capacity, nonetheless, traffic on the Middle Eastern routes declined in the period as a result of the region’s political unrest.
He also said that aircraft movements went up 7.2 percent from 26,558 movements in last year’s same period to 28,463 movements, on the other hand, air freight traffic fell 2.5 percent, reaching 197,841 tons compared with 202,984 tons in 2010.
It is worth noting that the airport’s strongest passenger growth came from Russia, with a rise of around 34 percent.
