Dubai consumer prices up 0.59% in August

(MENAFN) The inflation rate of Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Dubai rose 0.59 percent in the month of August as compared to July driven by a surge in prices of the furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 3.12 percent, Reuters reported.

According to the monthly report by the Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC), the report said that inflation of the transport group were up by 2.47 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages by 1.82, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 1.69, miscellaneous goods and services by 0.09, communication by 0.05 and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels by 0.04 percent.

The report noted the decline in the recreation and culture group by 0.09 percent and stability in prices of the key spending groups including health, education, clothing and footwear, restaurants and hotels during the period of review.
