(MENAFN) Dubai Airports’ CEO, Paul Griffiths, said that last month, passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport grew 6.2 percent from 2010’s 3.988 million to 4.236 million, reported Emirates 24/7.
Griffiths added that in the January-September period, passenger traffic grew 7.8 percent from last year’s same period to 37.547 million; on the other hand, aircraft movements went up 6.8 percent to reach 26,860 in September from 25,145 in 2010’s same month.
He also said that as a result of global economic uncertainty, Dubai International handled freight declined 5.5 percent from 2010’s 187,390 tons to 177,128 tons.
It is worth noting that in terms of percentage passenger growth, the strongest markets were Russia with an increase of 33.9 percent over 2010, followed by the GCC with a rise of 31.9 percent, and Eastern Europe with an increase of 18.7 percent.
