(MENAFN) The chairman and executive director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in the UAE, Mattar Al Tayer, announced that phase two of the dedicated bus and taxi lanes in Dubai would be completed in the third and fourth quarters of 2011, reported Arabian Business.
Al Tayer said that phase two would tackle one kilometer in each of Naif Road and Al Ittihad Road.
Al Tayer also said that according to surveys conducted by the TRA, 77 percent of people surveyed were in favor of the project and asked for implementing it in other roads around Dubai.
It is worth noting that the TRA would impose a fine of USD163 Motorists who would not abide by the new regulations as only police, ambulances and civil defense vehicles are allowed to use the dedicated lanes.
