(MENAFN) Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) said that the number of hotel guests in the country increased to more than 8.6 million in 2010 from 7.8 million in 2009, reported Gulf News.
DTCM said that 30 new hotels were established in Dubai in 2010, bringing the total number of hotels in the city to 382.
However, hotel occupancy rate stayed flat at 70 percent in the past two years, with 74 percent in 2009 and 75 percent in 2010.
According to a report issued by DTCM, guest nights across all types of properties went up by 17 percent to 26.6 million in 2010, from 22.8 million in 2009.
DTCM added that tourism revenues witnessed an increase to USD3.6 billion in 2010 from USD3.37 billion in 2009.
