(MENAFN) The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing’s (DTCM) Director General, Mr. Khalid Bin Sulayem, said that the number of guests who stayed at Dubai hotels during the year’s first three quarters rose 11 percent from 2010’s same period to 6.64 million guests, reported Emirates 24/7.
Bin Sulayem added that during the period, revenue of hotels and hotel apartments exceeded USD2.98 billion, with an increase of 19 percent from last year’s same period.
He also said that the average occupancy levels of hotel rooms grew by 5 percent to 72 percent, whereas average occupancy levels of apartments rose by 7 percent to 74 percent.
It is worth noting that during the January-June period, total revenues of hotels and hotel apartments jumped 18 percent over last year’s same period, exceeding USD2.19 billion.
