(MENAFN) Palmerstone and Donald Starkey Designs, the Dubai-based developers of the floating island in Dubai’s “The World” project said the design has attracted interest from Qatari and Russian buyers, and they are also targeting Abu Dhabi market, Arabian Business reported.
The project is called “The ‘Ome”, a floating home with two-deck design features consisting of five bedrooms, open-plan living areas and a central 10m-diameter seawater pool.
The ‘Ome also includes photovoltaic cells on its roof, designed to allow the property to be completely self-powered.
Graham Henderson, owner of Palmerstone and designer of the project said the design offers an infrastructure solution without the to break ground for buyers on troubled island project “The World” .
The two companies seek to use the facilities at Dubai Maritime City to build the ‘Omes and then float them into “The World” with a tug.
