Egypt to provide Jordan with cooking gas

(MENAFN) Jordan?s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Khaled Irani announced that Egypt has agreed to provide Jordan with natural gas to implement a gas-distribution project to houses and industries in Amman and Zarqa through a pipeline network, Petra reported.

The minister told a press conference in Amman that officials from the ministries of energies of both countries will meet later this month in Cairo to discuss the project, noting that the Egyptian approval comes within a 2009 agreement signed during a meeting for the Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Committee.

He pointed out that the proposed pipeline is expected to deliver gas for houses in Amman by 2013. About 280,000 houses and 4000 industrial and commercial establishments are expected to benefit form the project.
