Egypt’s non-oil exports touch $4.7b in Q4

(MENAFN) Egyptian Economic Development Minister Osman Mohamed Osman said that the country’s non-oil exports rose to $4.67 billion in the last three months of 2009, up from $3.72 billion in the same period of 2008, Reuters reported.

The minister also said that the growth rate in the tourism industry, a major foreign currency earner for Egypt, had returned to levels last seen before the global slowdown. He was speaking at a news conference in Cairo.

Investments in Egypt’s industry totaled $2.4 billion in the six months to the end of 2009, the minister said.
