Emir of Mekkah launches 2 tourism projects

(MENAFN) Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region, Prince Mansour Bin Mite�b, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities launched a new tourism project in the Makkah region, reported the Saudi Gazette.

Prince Khaled said that the project would be located south of Makkah in Al-Qunfudha and Al-Laith governorates. He said that this project was not only meant for tourism purposes but also served Saudi businessmen who seek new investments in the kingdom as well as enhancing economic conditions for Saudis.

Prince Khaled added that the project was a joint partnership between private and public sector companies. Infrastructure work had already been completed in the project area. The project includes sub projects for a seaport in Al-Laith and an airport in the Al-Qunfudha.

Prince Sultan commented that the project area has attractive scenery for tourists and would include resorts and hotels in an attempt to decrease the pressure on Jeddah. He also said that this project would create fifty thousand jobs for Saudis.
