Emirates Airline implements fuel surcharge

18 Apr 2011

(MENAFN) Dubai-based Emirates announced the addition of a fuel surcharge to its fares in response to the increase in global jet fuel prices that were escalated even more by the political unrest in the region, reported The National.

The airline added that economy tickets to the US increased by around forty percent. As for a return trip in the Middle East or to the airline’s South Asian destinations, they would go up by 45 percent.

The carrier said that even with the new surcharges, the airline had absorbed much of the costs that were driven by the hike in fuel prices.
